Spark extinguishing systems have been an integral part of security concepts of preventive fire and explosion protection in the various industrial processes. The task of this technology is to detect the smallest ignition source such as sparks and glowing particles in time and to extinguish them safety by local limited extinguishing measures before these sparks and glowing particles could damage machinery or other equipment. Especially in pneumatic transport ducts is this a thousand fold proven technology to protect filter systems, silos or bins against fires or explosions. If a spark will be detected a fine extinguishing efficient water mist spray will be inserted in the corresponding exhaust ducts for an adjustable extinguishing time to safety extinguish the sparks. This will certainly prevent that the spark can be the fire or explosion reason in the filter, silo or bin. Due to the extreme speed between detection and extinguishing this technology can also be used for the monitoring of machines which will be applied for working or processing of highly combustible and explosive substances.
