Drum Hoop Mixer with new Hygienic Design
Used in a variety of industry sectors, the Jel rrm drum hoop mixer from the bulk solids specialist Engelsmann is now available as a new Hygienic Design version. The Jel rrm drum hoop mixer is used for the mixing, homogenization and coloring of a variety of bulk solids and fluids. Available with a mixing container capacity of 50-400l, the gravity mixer covers a broad spectrum of tasks. To meet the growing demand for high-value and hygienic mixing solutions, Engelsmann is now offering the Jel rrm in a new hygienic version that has been specially developed for use in hygiene-conscious sectors such as the pharmacological and food industries. Here, along with making the mixer easy to clean, our top priorities were the avoidance of dead spaces and stopping product residues from accumulating. Therefore, all of the hygienic version's surfaces are especially flat and all internal parts are very easily accessible. As the drum hoop mixer can be completely dismantled, it can

The tradition goes on: Richard-Sebastian Moeller was awarded
this year’s LUM Young Scientist The 9th International Conference on Dispersion Analysis & Materials Testing took place in Berlin, Germany. Since 2014 the LUM Young Scientist Award (YSA) recognizes outstanding scientific work by young researchers in the areas of particle and dispersion characterization and materials testing. Three candidates from Europe and North America were nominated this year. They presented their results during the session. Dr.-Ing. Richard-Sebastian Moeller, Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), Germany, was awarded this year’s LUM Young Scientist for his research work on the adhesion phenomena in the bakery trade, forming part of his dissertation. With his nominated research work ”From the Life of Proving Cloths“ [1] Moeller significantly contributes to a better understanding of particle adhesion on surfaces. He issues hands-on instructions for the hygienic design of woven cloths, and for cleanly maximizing their service life. The LUMiSizer is used here for the determination

Control of material flow with MOLOSflow FSM Timely recognition of flow disturbances with microwave technology
Control of material flow with MOLOSflow FSM
Timely recognition of flow disturbances with microwave technology In many processes with e.g. pneumatic conveying of bulk solids flow controller are used, that monitor free of contact the flow of bulk solids in pipelines. Mollet füllstandtechnik has enhanced the offer in the product sector Bulk Solids Handling with the MOLOSflow FSM and closed consequently an essential gap in the product portfolio. With the MOLOSflow FSM flow disturbances, congestions, lack of bulk solids during conveying of powders, dusts, pellets and granulates are timely and reliably recognized. Thereby, cost and problems that arise due to a plant shutdown can be avoided. The variable adjustment of sensitivity, signal damping, switching hysteresis and filter function allow an optimal adaption to any kind of application. Due to the contact-less flow control the use in aggressive media is possible as well. Maintenance-free continuous operation, easy installation and parametrization at the device are additional advantages of the device. The measuring device operates

Flex tube diverter handling book trimmings
Flex tube diverter handling book trimmings
The bookmaking process requires individual sheets of paper be stitched into a spine and cover. The resulting stack of paper is then trimmed so that all pages are perfectly aligned with each other. The paper trimmings must then be collected for disposal or recycling. A printing company contacted Vortex searching for a method to convey the wasted materials away from the trimmer through a vacuum system toward two collection points. When conveying material away from the trimmer, each type of trimming poses an issue. The individual strips of paper are light and can be conveyed long distances through a dedicated line. The spine pieces are heavier and can only be conveyed shorter distances. Previously, the company was able to run a direct line to transfer paper strips toward the bailer, but sometimes the long strips of paper collected in various areas of the diverter, causing it to seize up and not work properly. The spine pieces also had to be removed from the trimmer by

Why Moisture Measurement is Crucial in Your Process Increase Production Efficiency by 400%
Why Moisture Measurement is Crucial in Your Process
Increase Production Efficiency by 400% Moisture measurement and control can: •Reduce Dryer Usage and Energy Costs •Proper Control of the Infeed and Dryer Exit •Better Quality of Final Product •Consistency of your final product •100% Product Inspection •Dust and Fire Elimination •Reduce Purchase Costs from Water Weight Moisture is important in any manufacturing process, but when it comes to waste alternatives, excess moisture can ruin products. And what’s worse than a wasted effort? Economical losses and decreased productivity. With continuous online moisture measurement, waste-to-energy plants will find huge money savings. From savings in transportation due to weight of excess moisture, to savings in water usage for dust suppression and clean-up. Plants also reduce the amount of wear and tear on equipment due to the dust and ash build up and prevent blockages on the conveyor resulting in shutting down the boiler. In waste-to-energy facilities, controlling the ash residue is a critical

Poeth Mini Z- en C-Conveyor for EX-Conveying Very minimal installation height
Poeth Mini Z- en C-Conveyor for EX-Conveying
Very minimal installation height Mini Z and C Conveyor for compact EX transport Poeth Soldis Processing from Tegelen presents the Mini Z and C Conveyor type FS2020 for the gentle and explosion-proof horizontal and vertical transport of powders, granules and granules. The extra compact chain conveyor achieves capacities of up to 20 m3 / hour. The costs for making explosion-proof, for example, a cup or container elevator are up to three times higher than the transport system itself. The Mini Z and C Conveyor from Poeth, on the other hand, can gently advance materials so that no Atex facilities are required. The transport capacity is 0 to 20 m3 / hour. Explosion proof Dry, organic substances can pose an explosion risk if they are transported at speeds of more than 1 m / s. This is the case with cup or bucket elevators because they only function well at speeds of around 2 m / s or higher. Such installations are subject to Atex laws and regulations. They must meet a series of requirements that require

Mechanical conveying, an effective option for materials that are difficult to convey and pose a risk of explosion
Mechanical conveying, an effective option
for materials that are difficult to convey and pose a risk of explosion Screw conveying is based on a screw that turns around to convey products through a system of pipes. Dinnissen supplies systems with single or double screws and even concave screws (i.e. 2 to 4 screws that overlap) that allow you to convey products that are viscous or sticky or cake easily, such as cheese spread, filter cakes and wood chips. We supply screw conveying systems suitable for conveying tiny quantities to very large quantities per hour. For environments subject to rigorous hygienic requirements, Dinnissen supplies special systems fitted with screws that can be easily removed or with shaft-free screws, which can be cleaned quickly and easily. A screw conveying system with a low loading factor is extremely well-suited for conveying fragile products. Conveyor belt systems offer the advantage that they convey products without shaking them. This makes them suitable for conveying ingredients that are fragile or sticky or pose an explosion risk. The conveyor belt

An airtight containment solution for pyrophoric substances
Thielmann whitepapers Thielmann engineers were recently presented with a complex challenge by a client: to design and develop a containment system for pyrophoric substances, which cannot be exposed to air at any given point, given their volatile nature. Our client could not find any suitable solutions already in the marketplace to safeguard their product and their workforce, so our team of engineers gladly rose to the challenge , given that our objective is to not only just sell containers, but to also provide tailormade solutions. But how did they end up solving the complex problem? Find out the answer to this question, as well as full details on the technical solution here in our Case Study.
