Paddle vibrates at 290 Hz in any type of bulk goods

Sword-shaped rod demonstrates major advantages due to the innovative design

The measurement process of the new MBA700 limit level switch is quite simple: If the filling material covers the vibrating paddle, the vibration is damped. The electronic components register this damping and generate a binary signal. If the filling level falls, the vibrating paddle is released again, and it begins to vibrate without damping as before; the signal switches back. MBA Instruments offers the already patented, high-sensitivity MBA700 limit level switch, which in comparison to other vibration rods is a genuine, vibrating insert rod: While vibrating forks and pseudo vibrating rods have been in the market for a long time, this genuine vibrating insert rod, in the form of a vibrating paddle, is so far unique.

It vibrates at 290 Hz with low-energy, so that it cannot “free itself up” – thereby avoiding faulty measurements due to the formation of cavities. The MBA700 with the vibrating paddle process can instead also register extremely light materials with a bulk weight of 10 grams per litre. The measurement process is not restricted by the type of bulk goods – the MBA700 is therefore particularly suitable in the case of frequently changing filling materials. Whether tea leaves or sand, wood shavings or sugar – the MBA700 can be used everywhere. The MBA700 can even be used with separating layers such as water-sand: the vibrating paddle also vibrates in water. As soon as the vibration is damped by the sand sediment, the device generates a signal. This application can be used for example in the intake area of pumps. “Its sword-shaped “insert rod” in the form of a paddle prevents deposits on the vibrating section, and trapped bulk materials, such as can often be observed with vibrating forks, do not occur with the MBA700”, explains Hans-Heinrich Westphal, Managing Director of MBA.

The vibrating paddle probe is made essentially of stainless steel. The extremely robust device head with its electronics is identical with the housing of further products of MBA Instruments GmbH. The MBA700, like the MBA200 rotary paddle probe, is modular in design. Immersion depths of up to 4 m can be achieved with the aid of tube extensions. At installation lengths of up to 20 m, a special cable connects the vibrating paddle to the electrons housing.
