The German manufacturers of process plant and equipment increased their production by 9.4 percent to 6.5 billion euros in 2010. About two third of it were exported.

Production
In the first quarter of 2011 the production increased again by 18 percent to 1.65 billion euros. So the pre-crisis level would at least be reached in the first quarter.

Equipment and plants for the chemical industry are with a share of about 34 percent of the whole production the largest product group. This includes centrifuges, distillation apparatus and filtration technology. In 2010 machinery and plants of this product group have been produced at a value of 2.2 billion euros. In the first half of 2011 the production of this product group (excluding machinery for inorganic chemistry) was at 1.3 billion euros and therefore 21 percent over the previous year"s value.

Equipment for water treatment and waste water technology has a share of 13 percent in the production of process plant and equipment. In the first half of 2011 the production in this product group increased by about 22 percent to 458 million euros.

2010, heat exchangers had, with a production volume of 681 million euros, a share in production of 10 percent. In the first half of 2011 the production went down slightly by 1.5 percent to 304 million euros.

The re-cooling technology is inside process technology the smallest group with a production volume of 172 million euros in 2010. Compared to last year, the production slightly increased in the first half of 2011. Despite a weaker second quarter the production increased by 2.8 percent to 69 million euros.

Outlook
As cross sectional technology the process plant and equipment engineering profits from the so far good atmosphere in the industry. The process technology delivers to many sectors of the machinery and plant engineering, which show a very good order position for their part. In addition, the sector drives the extension of its international business further. Also the local order position improved clearly in the end. The production 2011 is expected to reach the pre-crisis level again. In 2011 the VDMA process plant and equipment association expects a sales plus of 8 percent compared to last year.
