What do the international INTERPACK 2011 trade show and the Eurovision Song Contest have in common? At first glance, nothing. But if you take a closer look, you"ll find that they ran simultaneously in Düsseldorf last month. „Monday and Tuesday were the most important days at the show,“ stated W&H CEO, Jürgen Vutz. „It was evident that many INTERPACK visitors came during the second half of the show after the Eurovision was over in order to avoid the crowds.“ The Lengerich-based machinery manufacturer, Windmöller & Hölscher, was located in hall 15 and showed a moveable TOPAS FFS machine, which was designed for the contract packaging market. Also exhibited at the stand was the MATADOR paper sack line from Lengerich-based W&H subsidiary, Garant Maschinen.
W&H had another successful run at the INTERPACK despite a heavy concentration of visitors at the booth during the second week. „We welcomed visitors from all over the world, with a particularly high turn out from Eastern Europe, Latin America and the Middle East,“ reports Peter Steinbeck, Managing Director of W&H. „The show was a success for us; we conducted very productive meetings, the show lines were well received and we were able to finalize some negotiations.“
Signs at the INTERPACK indicated a considerable upturn for the packaging machinery market. Rafael Imberg, Sales Manager of FFS-Systems, said the company is expecting to take on some larger projects in the immediate future. Although the INTERPACK focuses on packaging machinery, for W&H it offered a platform to meet with existing and prospective customers in the flexible packaging industry. „More than 60 of our customers exhibited at the show,“ noted company executives. „W&H offers a wide range of products for the flexible packaging industry. As a result, many discussions crossed over into extrusion, printing and converting.“
