Endress+Hauser is now offering another contact-free measurement technology solu-tion. This time for the level measurement of bulk solids like stones, wood and pow-ders. Many new and exciting fields of application in tanks, pipes or shafts have opened up due to the large 100 meter (328ft) measuring range of the new Soliwave FQR56/FDR56 microwave barrier.
The Soliwave microwave barrier consists of an FQR56 emitter and an FDR56 re-ceiver with integrated power unit. The receiver also has an integrated switching amplifier which enables easy electrical installation on site. The microwave barrier can also be used for monitoring and metering purposes as well as for the detection of liquids. As an alternative to the SPDT relay or transistor outputs, the Soliwave is also available with a 4 to 20 mA current output. This allows the user to track proc-ess changes accurately and, for example, to analyze the build-up of deposits or dirt on the inside of pipes.
Thanks to the wide range of different materials, settings and suitable accessories, the Soliwave FQR56/FDR56 microwave barrier can be quickly mounted and setup in the process. For example, stainless steel housings are available in addition to the plastic version. In the case of particularly abrasive media and in cases when you really must install the sensor in the pipe you can select a special ceramic sensor . Applications with temperatures of up to 450 °C are possible using an additional high-temperature adapter.
The microwave barrier is very easy to assemble and align thanks to the 360° rotate- able housing. In addition, settings such as automatic empty and full calibration, the user-definable switch on/off delay or the damping function help to ensure the safe and reliable operation of the system.
