On the occasion of the opening of the Hanover Fair on April 20th, 2009, the jury selected 28 prize winners for the iF material award among the proposals sent in by 98 different candidates. The products awarded were exhibited during the special show “material TRENDS” as part of the Hanover fair.
CeramTec-ETEC GmbH had submitted a new product of in-house development. The ceramic/steel ball valve is a combination of high-quality materials: a valve ball made of steel with a passage area protected by the high-performance ceramic material ALOTEC guarantees maximum wear protection, whereas the steel body absorbs the driving power. In comparison to customary solutions, this hard-wearing material combination helps reducing costs to a very great extent – due to a reduction of wear, downtimes can be notably reduced, and contamination of the conveyed material can be minimized. The jury emphasized particularly the fact that CeramTec-ETEC’s ball valve ideally meets the requirements of the new evaluation criterion “sustainability”.
With this new and innovative product, CeramTec-ETEC expands its complete system of fix and flexible components of pipelines with high-performance wear protection by a further essential component, and therefore nearly seamless safety within the complete system can be ensured.
