Versatility, high performance capability, and reliability have made the FFS (Form-Fill-Seal) TOPAS one of the most successful bagging systems available in the marketplace. At interpack in Düsseldorf, German based engineering company Windmöller & Hölscher (W&H) presented its peak model for allround bagging applications in two different versions, i.e. one machine laid out for consumer products and the other one for the bagging of standard plastic resins at high output rates.
FFS systems of the TOPAS range have so far been known to lend themselves to the bagging of free-flowing products such as plastic resins, fertilizers, salts, etc. The development of special product-oriented solutions led to notably extended application possibilities of the TOPAS and has opened up new market segments to be served, also including the packaging of food and other consumer products.
The TOPAS on show was specially configured for the handling of consumer products, featuring a handle punch unit as well as edge sealing capability, features that are of special interest when it comes to the packaging of branded goods. Prior to filling, the handle die-cutter provides the bags, previously formed from the endless film tube, with handles for easy removal from the shelf and convenient handling while carrying them home. The edge sealing feature ensures good shape stability of the filled sack, while at the same allowing the bag to be presented with better eye appeal.
