At Interpack 2008, German based Windmöller & Hölscher (W&H) presented the DIAMANT, the company`s latest generation high-performance FFS system. Designed for very high bagging speeds of in excess of 2,000 bags/h and equipped with a rotary filling section, the DIAMANT is ideal for consistent and continuous operation, as required in the petro-chemical industry, for example. High speed is also the result of an automatic roll change system, graphic touch screens and a newly developed weighing scale. According to W&H, it is these innovations which combined lead to increased productivity, low maintenance requirements, an extended spectrum of plastic films to be used, as well as the greatest possible ease of operation.
By combining the weighing scale with the overall machine control concept, the operator can easily and reliably operate the entire system via a single intuitive touch screen panel. All scale settings and displays are integrated into the operator interface of the weighing scale and only need very few operator entries. The self-optimizing scale ensures maximum bagging speeds and perfect weighing accuracy at all times. Automatic roll changes are completed in less than 30 seconds, resulting not only in extended effective up-time of the system but also in increased operator availability, which in turn lead to higher bagging output and reduced labour cost.
