Scheuch has been using cascaded classifiers for many years to remove filler material in applications in the gravel and ballast industries. In order to be able to optimise this system in the future and dimension plants to handle customer-specific materials, we developed and built a mobile classifier test plant.
The mobile unit is immediately available for material testing at customer locations, whereby the most important aspect will be a reduction in the percentage of filler material (grain sizes < 90 µm).
The unit is designed to allow for the measurement of various air volumes and their distribution in the cascaded classifier and to use these values for dimensioning the full-scale plant. Because of external circumstance, the material to be classified often does not have a constant water content (upper level is currently 1.5%). The test unit provides the opportunity to introduce heat and to reduce the water content.
The unit is also capable of processing large inventories of natural and crushed sand. With the help of a conveyor belt, filler can be removed from up to 10 tons of material per hour with an air volume of circa 6,000 m3/h.
The main advantage of this mobile cascaded classifier is that customers can form their own impressions and make more accurate decisions with respect to filler levels and the quality of material.
