PIAB verfügt über ein hohes Maß an Kompetenz; Unternehmensorganisation, -Struktur und -Kultur fördern zudem ein innovatives Klima, das diese Kompetenz weiter ausbaut. Seit der Gründung im Jahre 1951 hat das Unternehmen eine breite Produktpalette in den Bereichen Vakuumförderung und Meßtechnik entwickelt. Das erste von PIAB entwickelte Produkt war allerdings ein Zeichenzirkel, der Konstrukteuren und technischen Zeichnern ihre Arbeit erleichterte. In Anlehnung daran entstand auch der Firmenname Pi (3,14 = das Verhältnis von Kreisumfang zu Kreisdurchmesser) + AB (Aktiebolag = Aktiengesellschaft). <br> <br> Später wurde eine Reihe von Instrumenten zur Messung von Zugfestigkeiten konstruiert. Ende der 60er Jahre wurde das erste Vakuumprodukt erfunden, die pneumatische Vakuum-Pinzette. Heute werden Vakuum-Produkte von PIAB weltweit vertrieben. PIAB is a company rich in competence and with an organisation whose culture, structure and processes encourage an innovative climate. Since the company was established in 1951 a wide range of products have been developed in the fields of vacuum and measuring techniques. The first product developed was a drawing compass that simplified the work for designers and draughtsmen, and thereof the company name Pi (3.14) AB. Later on a series of instruments for measuring tensile forces were designed. At the end of the `60s the first vacuum product was invented, pneumatic vacuum tweezers.
